Our Troopers Keep Their Eyes Open

A "normal" (is there such a thing?) traffic stop by one of our Troopers this week resulted in over a ton of marijuana being seized and several perps arrested.

On the night shift Nov. 17, one of our Senior Troopers spotted a truck eastbound on Interstate 70. This is in the Richfield area Where Jim works and he wanted to check its commercial vehicle registration. Jim stopped the truck and using his experience and observation skills decided there were contraband drugs in the vehicle. He got consent to search the truck and found 360 pounds of marijuana behind an obviously false wall in the truck. Jim coordinated with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and their task force accompanied the driver to Indianapolis which was the destination for the marijuana. In a controlled buy another ton of marijuana was seized.
