Almost
300 pounds of cocaine was intercepted by UHP Sergeant Paul Mangleson after a routine traffic stop on Interstate 15 outside of Nephi. It is one of the state's
largest drug busts. The cocaine, 134 kilos packaged in rubber balloons wrapped in cellophane and electrician's tape, was found in the bed of a Chevrolet pickup truck by Sgt. Mangelson. Many packages were stuffed into a suitcase. Mangelson, A 37-year veteran of the Highway Patrol and a member of the agency's Criminal Interdiction Team, stopped the truck two miles south of Nephi because he thought the driver might be impaired. Members of the Criminal Interdiction Team receive special training to recognize the signs of possible drug trafficking. This interception by Sgt. Mangleson is probably the state's largest drug bust.
Way To Go!
