Our New Police Academy, Nearing Completion

You and I would have a difficult time counting up the money Larry Miller has generously poured into our state from his own money. The latest one, that we just have to finally mention, is the twenty-one million-dollar police training facility nearing completion at the Salt Lake Community College in Sandy.

The Police Academy facility follows earlier educational facilities Larry has already built at the College. Instruction in subjects as far reaching as interior design, automotive maintenance, business training, and now the training of Police and Corrections Officers, are supported by Larry's generosity.

The police officer training facility consists of a three-story dormitory for recruits, a first-class cafeteria, a twenty-lane indoor firing range and a three-story classroom facility with adjacent training areas. The new construction will be used for peace officer training and will replace most of the training that has been historically stationed in other locations, primarily POST at West Valley City. Frankly, our present facilities have become quite overcrowded due to the drastic increase in the numbers of new officer training over the years.

"Thank You" seems inadequate. Larry Miller already knows how we all appreciate his service to Utah, and to the Highway Patrol. We just wanted to make sure the rest of our citizens were aware of our appreciation.
