District One,
|
|
Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, a working officer will make a significant "catch" only when he keeps his eyes open and his brain fully engaged. District One's John McMann is a prime example of the wide-awake Trooper. Recently John noticed a motorist who failed to give the proper signal before making a turn. A warning is always a good educational tool in the prevention of accidents so John stopped the violator. As he approached the driver's window, our Trooper noticed an unusual collection of valuable products in the back seat. Many of the items had retailer tags on them. When John asked the driver about the items he became extremely agitated and nervous. One thing led to another, and Trooper McMann ended up recovering thousands of dollars in stolen jewelry, pilfered merchandise, merchandise prepaid cards and weapons. Some of the recovered firearms were stolen as far away as the east coast. Another contact John made this week resulted in his apprehension of a criminal from Washington State. The subject was wanted on several felony warrants registered in the NCIC database, including assault and distribution of various drugs including cocaine. |
