High Risk Felony Stops

Utah Troopers are not strangers to high risk felons.

The criminal element in todays society is a very mobile element. They commit high crimes and are miles away before the All Points Bulletin is broadcast. We have had several Troopers make traffic stops on criminals before the crime was known.

Because of this fact, Troopers must be prepared, mentally and physically, to handle high risk situations as they happen. If you are stopped and the Trooper seems a bit serious or takes extra safety measures it may be that he is looking for a vehicle or person that matches your general description. Please, be patient; we just want him to go home in one piece when his shift is over.

Becoming efficient in the use of various firearms is a normal part of a Troopers life.
