The Aero Bureau is an essential part of the Department of Public Safety.

The Utah Department of Public Safety utilizes both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft for several purposes.

The fixed wing aircraft, or airplane, is used to extradite prisoners, enforce speed limit laws, transporting department personnel for court appearances and investigative purposes, and it is used to take aerial photographs of major incidents across the state.

The rotary wing aircraft, or helicopter, is used for marijuana eradication, search and rescue missions, traffic patrol, and it is also used for photographing major incidents.
